Forcing my homemade crafts on people

Summertime presents itself with birthdays and quite frankly, a bunch of crap I can't afford to buy for.  Somehow, I convince myself that it's better to spend money on craft supplies; they go farther.  So, I've been making flower hair clips and I don't care who doesn't want them.  I now have a stockpile and everyone I know is getting them.

My supplies:
fake flowers from Dollar Tree
different sized gems & alligator clips from Hobby Lobby

The first step is pulling apart the flowers and tossing those ugly excuses for stamens.
The next is hot gluing each individual layer to make the flower look fuller.

The next two steps are interchangeable: hot glue the clips and the gems.

Since then I've made orange ones, white ones with gems of color, and other combinations that people probably aren't going to be that psyched about for years to come.  :)

Rummage and reuse

My best rummage sale finds so far this year:

These amazing pink Chucks. I lost my shit when I spotted them.

Pinterest is my motivation and also my procrastination.  But we'll focus on the motivation part today.
I have quite a few candles boxed up, years old and now scentless.  When I came across this pin, I had to try the boiling water technique because the freezer technique seemed a little stupid.  I mean, chipping away at cold glass doesn't seem like a great idea.

Much better, right?  Until I find something to store in them, I'll just leave them there.

Finally!

Despite the fact that it's finals week, it's a great day!  I finally got my new lens...and another one, too!

So here are a few other ones from my point and shoot.  I've been waiting to use a real camera again and the evidence that I have will come sometime this month.  For now...

I made some Thank You cards in advance...I have a lot to be thankful for :)

Liz and I visited this AMAZING place and I should've taken more photos.

A few of my favorite pins:

Hiiiiiiiilarious!  Wish we'd thought of this.  Just another reason to renew our vows. :)

You must know how I love anything involving profanity.

This is awesome.  I'd make it into a family tree by adding my favorite photos of everyone in birth order.  I think it'd be really great in a nursery or even a "big" kid's room.
Baby Pig Booties

I love love love pigs.  I used to be obsessed, so I guess I've improved.  Honestly though, how does this not melt the hearts of everyone who sees it?

I am SO doing this.
easily cut a glass bottle in half

I have no use in mind for the bottom halves of glass bottles.  However, now that I know how to "cut" them, I'm going to.  I'll figure out the rest later; even if they just become candle holders.

I love how comfortable this look seems.  I'll be wearing my own version of it soon (if the weather cooperates).

My definition of "few" is probably different from everyone else's.  Oh well.  :)
I'll be in class for the majority of the afternoon and evening.  I'm really looking forward to tomorrow.  I just have to get through a test in which I'll draw a map of America from the 18th century, then I'm off to Berlin.  I'm really excited to visit my grandparents; especially because I enjoy taking photos of them and I have a new cammmmera!  :-D  And I'll be seeing my cousin and her baby; the memory cards will be bursting.

What I've been working on:

I've decided that 2012 is the Year of the Valentine.  This means that my lucky husband gets a valentine a month for the year.  It's suuuuper corny, but until I have children who can occupy my free time, he will be surrounded with glitter, hearts and of course, love.  These are two of the twelve.

I've also been working on an art journal.  I'm pretty excited to keep it up...for now.  I think once classes start again I'll fall behind on it but that won't be the end of the world.  Anyways, here that is, too:

I'll obviously be adding to the cover since it's still pretty plain.  I found lots of cool ideas on Pinterest I'll be experimenting with as well.

Oh, and quite possibly my favorite ongoing project is the 52 weeks of Instax!  I'm really excited to be doing this for the year.  I need to order more film soon, but it's so worth it.  I feel like it's really coming together.

The Good News

My UGGs have finally arrived!  I've been waiting for about two weeks and my black Classic Talls are finally here.  :-D

They're gorgeous and perfect...*sigh*

And now the family is complete...for a few months.

On another lovely note, my homemade Christmas coasters for the in-laws are done.  I'm pretty excited, but I learned a lot and will do quite a bit differently the next time around.
They started out pretty rough-looking.

I used this set of instructions (of course I found the link on ediTORIal) and the results are below. :)

Ready to go!

The only other homemade gifts I really succeeded in making this year (aside from the delicious peanut clusters) were variations of this:

which I found on tumblr.  Here they are:

I employed my Cricut for the one on the right and I just used ink and rubber stamps for the one on the left.  I like the effect of background so I used green tissue paper and purple striped scrapbook paper.
