Tattoo Tuesday #1

I couldn't find a source for this one, but it's so gorgeous I couldn't omit it.

It's a good thing I have an appointment to get my shoulder finished on Thursday after work.  If I didn't, I'd be making one I'd actually have to pay for.  :)

Check it out, Sauerkraut

Just thought I'd blog some random things that made me happy today.

First, http://www.thenotwedding.com/ has really made me think.  I don't know why they weren't doing this all along, instead of those ridiculous over-the-top bridal shows.  It's such an awesome idea, especially for people who want a feel for what their big day will really be like - it's the perfect way to avoid the stuffy feeling, I think.

Work went really well today so I took a trip to Target afterward.  I love Christmas and everything associated.  Cheesy/kid Christmas movies are my cup of tea, so I couldn't resist (not that I tried to).
I'm SO excited for these Plaid About You nail strips!  Apparently they're a limited holiday edition, so I'll be stocking up.  No pun intended.

Fuzzy Friday

I've decided begin a themed post once per week to help me remember to blog.  There will obviously be pictures of more than just my dog, but she is pretty cute so she'll be showing up the majority of the time, too.

Maybe I just think these are cute because I love when she does things she's not supposed to.  We have reprimanded her a million times for being on furniture and she's just a badass and does it anyway.

Those eyes!

If only Huskies were a little easier to train, Remy would have a sister.

Tooooo cute!

Oh, and Kaelah  (little chief honeybee) is having the sweetest giveaway of the year.  I don't know how she hasn't ripped the packaging completely off and kept it for herself, but she's giving away a 16GB iPad 2!  While you're there entering to win, check out her adorable Bulldogs!

Wednesdays are for wishing...

It's been a long time so I'm just going to launch into a new wish list and hope for the best.

Just realized another one existed!  Now I'm just wondering how many more I'm unaware of because I have a lavender colored one that's not even on the EOS website.  Secrets are no fun.

I need to start thrifting regularly.  There are so many more things I want that I could just make out of something else.  Especially now that winter is here and I'm becoming obsessed with quirky pins and brooches.  Also, I need to find things to try on (impossible online shopping) because despite all of those diehard "leggings are not pants" people, I'm wearing them.
Hawkeye AquaView 360, 2 Gallon Aquarium Kit
this!

I just bought this amazing aquarium today.  It won't get here until December 1st but I am in love with it.  Basically, anything colorful or with the potential to be makes me throw out my credit card and ask questions later.  :)

It's been a really long time.

I'm newly-obsessed with leopard print.  The Labor Day sales made it even better for me because I got a huge comfy throw (that was $70) for $20.  Now I just want everything to reflect my wild-wish-I-was-a-stripper side.  So here's my latest project (short shorts and all):

I wanted a wall mirror but I'm not the type to pay more than $10 for something unnecessary and chintzy.  I got the mirror for $4 and a roll of Spotted Leopard Duck Tape and now I'm one step closer to sleeping in a hooker's lair.  Yay me!

I got a haircut a few days ago, too.  I started watching Sex and the City about 2 weeks ago and can't stop.  Carrie's hair in Season 5 is finally not ridiculous and is actually suuuuper cute!  My hair isn't so much, but I haven't actually tried doing anything with it yet.  I see some volumizing products in my near future, though.

One of the best days ever - 8/6/11

I think that while we're children, we connect things in a much different process than we do as adults.  For this reason, certain things stick out in our minds more than, perhaps more deserving, others.  For instance, I'm sure that my dad listened to an assortment of music, and therefore bands, when I was a kid; the radio was always on.  But aside from the radio (usually oldies, but always rock) I remember hearing ZZ Top.  Winter, summer, it didn't matter.  When I was about twelve, he bought every album on CD.  I memorized almost all of the songs without even knowing I had them memorized until he died.  I made my discovery when I listened with my eyes closed, pretending he was the one who hit Play.  To this day, if I'm having a hard time or missing my dad extra, I pop in a ZZ Top CD and things get better.  So, now to the point...

I saw ZZ Top live.  Last night.  I was literally 100 feet away from them.

I also decided last night that I will see this band every single time it's an option for me, until either they don't perform anymore, or they're dead.  That was the best show I've ever been to, hands down.  And I didn't drink so that I could remember everything, exactly as it was.  So worth it.

Yesterday was my Uncle Greg's funeral.  He died last Thursday morning and I hung out with my Aunt Cathy and the family over the weekend, but I had to work yesterday.  :(  Boo.  After work though, at 8 PM, I finally got to see everyone.  Their house was Party Central (yep, that's as original as I'm getting today) and my aunt was gushing about how good it felt to smile and laugh.  :)  She's soooo cute when she's drunk.  Anyways, besides the nice bonding and family time, I tried a new shot and it was AWESOME.  Thanks to my cousin's wife, Carrie, this will be my shot of choice if Apple Pie isn't available.  It's RumChata and it really does taste like Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal.  YUM.  I kind of want to have a party just to have an excuse to drink this...Drinking at canning parties probably make everything taste better.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I can't wait to start canning!  I got this awesome recipe from Sheri's Sweet Life and it's doing the equivalent of money burning holes in pockets.  EEEeeep!

Applesauce with Honey
16 c apples- peeled, cored, cut up
1 c water
2 t lemon juice
1 t cinnamon
1/2 t allspice
Start with 3 T honey, up to 1/4 c of honey to your taste

Put apples, lemon and water in pot, bring to boil and cook until soft.  Add the honey and spices at the end, cooking a few more minutes.  Either smash with wooden spoon if desiring chunky, or put in blender if desiring a smoother texture. Follow your manufacturer's guide to canning.  Can be frozen in containers with good results as well.

I've taken a few days off of JM's 30 Day Shred and I need to get motivated to start again.  I thought for sure those few days of laziness would undo whatever firmness was starting to make its way through winter padding but it hasn't.  Which is pretty much why I stopped.  I'm done with my job after tomorrow, so I'll just make working out like a job.  If I pretend I'm getting paid, I'll pretty much do anything.
