I started with $1 white jeans from the thrift store. The fabric dye was only $3 at Hobby Lobby.
Filled up my pretty bucket with steamy water...

| And they're not as minty and light as I'd like them to be, but they'll do. I washed them in hot water but they still didn't fade much. |
They look great! If you put a capful of bleach into a big bucket of hot water and dip the jeans in so they get evenly soaked and then immediately throw them into the wash, I think it should fade them up a little bit without making them completely white.
