2012 Outfit Week 35 - Native

Remy just couldn't find anything else to do, so she ended up in half of these photos.  I don't believe short shorts to be stylish, however, until my wishing for Autumn works, they're gonna have to suffice.

I'm finding myself wishing I had longer legs, because I really love the idea of these ankle moccasins with shorts.
But I'll trade them for my favorite ones.

$4 Mint Skinnies

I started with $1 white jeans from the thrift store.  The fabric dye was only $3 at Hobby Lobby.

Filled up my pretty bucket with steamy water...

Stirred and stirred and stirred for 15 minutes (because I wanted them light-colored)

Rinsed

And they're not as minty and light as I'd like them to be, but they'll do.  I washed them in hot water but they still didn't fade much.

Shopping List

Yeah, I'm almost 25.  But who's gonna stop me if I want to get new school clothes for my last year (hopefully) of college?  Nobody, that's who.  Here's what's on my list:

Mint Skinny Jeans (to pair with a million things, but the dreamiest outfit being a white top and my moccasins)

Asos Petite Exclusive Mint Green Skinny Jean #4

I don't have any of the colored skinnies yet, so these are the perfect excuse to try something new and expand my style.  Also, I found this awesome blog with a tutorial for making mint skinny jeans for $8. Duh.

I need a blazer, obviously.  I'm thinking one with ruched sleeves, like these from Charlotte Russe.  Probably in black or gray, but maybe in a more fun color.

Red Hot Boyfriend Blazer    Classic Black Ponte Blazer

Some cropped light gray leggings are a necessity.  I hope to find some like I found last year, with a wide waistband.  They're so much more comfortable.

                                               Splendid Modal Lycra Cropped Legging

I don't have cowboy boots yet.  I know, how am I breathing?  But seriously, I need these from Charlotte Russe, as well.  Because I don't want to spend a ton of money and it's easier to maintain slouchy boots (they're already creased).
Dreamy
What wouldn't I wear them with?

Also, I need a skirt about this color.  So that I can wear it with a white tank top, charcoal gray cardigan and braided (brown) leather belt. Clearly.

Outfit 2012, Week 34 - Ruffles & Polka Dots

This skirt is a little loose at the top, for the way I'd like it to fit higher around my middle.  Other than that, I love this outfit.

2012 Outfit, Week 33 - Gray & Yellow

I enjoy using my remote way too much.

Is it just me, or do moccasins go with everything?

I got this sheer yellow button up about four years ago.  I think I only wore it once, to my cousin's wedding shower.  I'm wondering what the heck my problem was now.  I can't get enough of it.  Paired with shorts or capris or skinny jeans; it's amazing.  I'm going to figure out which skirt to pair it with soon, too.
I have kind of a weird dog...

But also, to break out of my comfort zone, I paired it with these for part of the day.

I was going for the Steve Madden girls (over-sized head) stance.  Hah.

Lace Chair

This is my latest project.  My inspiration came from this pin on Pinterest.  Mine's obviously different; I used a doily instead of a curtain.

I brushed on DecoArt's Elegant Finish metallic paint in Champagne from Hobby Lobby in a few spots.  After it dried I put the doily over those spots and spray painted.  Pretty simple and I like the results.  I just have to sand the edges a bit now, to get an even shabbier chic look.

Outfits of 2012, Week 32 - Out of focus

These are all out of whack, but I'm still enjoying the feel of this ensemble.  Wearing leggings as pants is kind of a big deal, especially when you're not 100% confident that your lower half doesn't look like stuffed sausage.  It's nice that this shirt is longer in the back too, because my Jillian Michael's DVDs haven't seen the Blu-Ray in God knows how long.

It feels pretty good to be playing with outfits recently.  Hopefully the enthusiasm lasts through this semester (and to the end of 2012).

Half Off Mondays

The first Monday of every month, St. Vinny's (Vincent de Paul) has a 50% off everything sale.  I don't know why I haven't gone before, despite the madness of the place.  I didn't buy much, but I got great deals on everything I did leave with.  My favorite purchase is this book was clearly priced (with 4 stickers, front, back, two inside) at $5.  If I hadn't purchased this little gem for $2.50, I wouldn't realize that I need to get a copy (probably used, I'm not rich) for every kid I'll ever encounter.

I found it on Amazon here, and the used copies are only $7.50, but holy crazy price for new ones.

I feel like whether this book was a gift (generous!) or just something someone bought for their own kid, it shouldn't have ended up there.  Granted, I'm grateful to have it now, but this book is really nice quality and it's so fun and informative.  It'll be an heirloom for us.

Adam probably has each one of these facts memorized already, since when he was growing up, he was on his grandparents 100 acres of wooded land catching blue racers, bugs and learning everything possible about every living creature.  He's like an encyclopedia about everything nature-related.  Shit.  We probably don't even need this.
